Went to the Vue cinema in Cardiff last night to see the new Pixar film Wall-E. I’ll try not to give anything away here…

Set in the future, Earth has been abandoned by its inhabitants because of excessive waste. Left behind were loads of robots designed with one task, to clean up the mess until it was suitable for habitation again.

Neatly compacting the rubbish into box’s and stacking them into towers ready for some other unknown process, the robots fall by the wayside leaving our hero of the film WALL-E alone, relentlessly continuing.

Artificial intelligence seems to have taken over as Wall-E’s self repairs keep him ticking over. He continues his job until the arrival of EVA, a more futuristic model which must have been modeled by Apple that instigates an instant attraction for Wall-E. He’s watched some old films and learns how to hold hands.

Pixar have out-done themselves again with an incedibly detailed animation that at time will have you believing it must be real objects. The storyline, although basic, is compelling and easy to be drawn into. The kids will love it and be damanding Wall-E toys for upcoming birthdays for sure.
