Garden bed 31032008The vegetable plot is coming along nicely as can be seen in this panoramic pic. I’ve so far planted the Leeks on the far left. On the far right is my granny smith apple tree. Next to this my wigwam for the pea plants and rosemary plant. The peas are planted and so they have a little more ease climbing the wigwam, I tied string around it. This should help the stability of the structure also.
tomorrow I’ll be transferring the Rocket, salad leaves and Pak Choi into pots so they can continue to grow neatly before I transfer them into the plot.
The center of the plot has a piece of trellace, I’m not sure if I’ll be using this or not. If it does get used, it’ll probably be for the Chilli plants.

Walk pan 1In other news, I’ve had a day off work today while work commenced on the ceiling of my dining room (it had some water damage from a burst pipe). While the first phase of fixing was under way (plastering over top ready to artex to match front) I took Jack out for a 3 hour hike over the Graig where I put took a few photo’s of a farm that I pieced together for this panoramic.
I also took some photos overlooking Pontypridd and Trefforest and pieced them together to create this other panoramic.
Walk pan 2
Needless to say, Jack is completely knackered now. :-)

I’m attempting a little “grow my own” this year. So far I’ve dug over the plant bed and removed any weeds and stones. Its only a small plant bed so maybe a little cramped when complete.
The bed has had some of the weed stopping fabric installed as a base about 1-2′ down. I’ve mixed in some manure and compost into the soil and begunthe planting.
So far planted are 6 leek plants at the far left, and at the far right a small Grany Smith apple tree. Almost ready for planting are six pea plants (I’ll need to make a wigwam thing for these) and a rosemary shrub (this will probably just be in a seperate pot).
I’ve 8 other plants germinating or whatever its called indoors on a windowsill. These are Rocket, Mixed Salad leaves, Pak Choi, Cucumber, Chillis, Peppers, Tomatoes and somethin else tt escapes me right now. I’m hoping there’ll be enough room for all of them, if not, I’ll just pick the most likely to flourish, and go from there.

Photo’s to follow.
